El precio del oro ha sufrido desde el nivel de resistencia de 2.075 dólares en mayo. La semana pasada el precio cayó a través del nivel de 1.960 dólares y tiene vía libre para bajar.

La demanda del metal precioso entre los bancos centrales probablemente se mantendrá fuerte, incluso después de un año récord de compras, dijo UBS.

Durante 2022, los bancos centrales compraron 1.078 toneladas métricas, lo que supuso la mayor demanda anual de oro desde que comenzaron los registros en 1950. Los analistas dicen que fue más del doble de las 450 toneladas métricas compradas en 2021. Basándose en las cifras del primer trimestre, los bancos centrales están actualmente en camino de comprar 700 toneladas métricas este año, estimó UBS, por debajo de 2022, pero aún por encima del promedio de 500 toneladas métricas desde 2010.

“Creemos que es probable que esta tendencia de compra de los bancos centrales continúe en medio de un aumento de los riesgos geopolíticos y una inflación elevada”, dijo UBS. “De hecho, la decisión de EEUU de congelar las reservas de divisas rusas tras la guerra de Ucrania puede haber provocado un impacto a largo plazo en el comportamiento de los bancos centrales.”

Previsión del precio del oro

El dólar estadounidense ha sido la moneda de reserva para tiempos de tensión, y los mercados financieros del país son el lugar donde aparcar sumas importantes. Pero el reciente aumento de la demanda de oro se ha visto como una mayor desdolarización con la creación de acuerdos comerciales entre países y las tensiones entre EE.UU. y China.

La continua demanda de los bancos centrales es una de las razones por las que UBS cree que el oro subirá a 2.100 dólares la onza a finales de año, y a 2.200 dólares en marzo de 2024. El oro cayó por debajo de los 2.000 dólares la semana pasada, pero sigue subiendo un 8% anual.

Otro factor que podría reforzar el oro es la debilidad del dólar. UBS añadió que el dólar seguirá bajando, ya que la Reserva Federal parece dispuesta a pausar su ciclo de endurecimiento. Al mismo tiempo, otros bancos centrales siguen subiendo los tipos.

“Históricamente, el oro ha obtenido buenos resultados cuando el dólar se ha debilitado debido a su fuerte correlación negativa, y vemos otra ronda de debilidad del dólar en los próximos 6-12 meses”, dijo UBS.
