Professional Account Details

Margin Rates

As a Professional Trader, you can trade with a minimum of 0.25% margin. ATFX Australia is required to limit leverage on different products offered to retail accounts to comply with the ASIC requirements. These restrictions do not apply to Professional Accounts.

No Negative Balance Protection

Professional Traders are responsible for ensuring that their account does not fall into a negative balance. If it does, you will need to make additional payments to bring your balance back above zero, meaning that your losses can exceed your deposits.

Best Execution

You can keep trading with tight spreads and our best execution model. The Professional Account has market leading execution provided by our pool of liquidity providers.

Product Disclosure Statement & Financial Services Guide

Currently, Professional Accounts will not be entitled to some of the protections afforded to retail clients under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). ATFX Australia is not required to give you a Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) or Financial Services Guide (FSG).

Client Money Segregation

Money you hold with us will remain in a segregated client bank account.

Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA)

ATFX Australia provides access to internal dispute resolution process to Professional Accounts, but if you are not satisfied with our process you may not be able to access our external dispute resolution process provided by the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA)

Eligibility Criteria

There are two ways to qualify for a Professional Account: You need to meet the criteria of either the Asset Test or Sophisticated Test

Asset Test
You meet one of the two criteria

 

Criteria 1 Net assets are at least 2.5 million AUD

 

OR

 

Criteria 2 Gross income for each of the last 2 financial years are at least 250,000 AUD per year

 

 

 

 

Sophisticated Test
You meet two of four following criteria

Criteria 1 At least 50 CFD trades in the last 12 months

OR

Criteria 2 At least 500,000 AUD notional value of CFD trades in the last 12 months

OR

Criteria 3 The value of your portfolio, assets and investments exceeds 250,000 AUD

OR

Criteria 4 At least 1 year working experience in the financial sector

FAQs about Professional Account

You can be categorised as a Wholesale Investor and upgrade to ATFX Australia Professional Account if you meet one of the following requirements.

Asset Test

you need to meet one of the two criteria

  1. Assets: You have net assets of at least 2.5M AUD, or
  2. Income: Your gross income for each of the last two financial years was at least 250,000 AUD

 

Sophisticated Test

You need to meet two of the four criteria

  1. At least 50 CFD trades in the last 12 months
  2. You have traded CFD at least 500,000 AUD in notional value last 12 months
  3. The value of your portfolio, assets and investments exceeds 250,000 AUD
  4. You have at least 1 year working experience in the financial sector

Professional Accounts have different conditions for trading to retail clients. This is because Professional clients are expected to have a more sophisticated understanding of complex products.

Professional Account will lose some protections:

  1. There’s no requirement to issue you a product disclosure statement (PDS), financial services guide (FSG), and other warnings and disclaimers (although these will remain available on our website for you to review)
  2. Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) relating to the External Dispute Resolution (EDR) processes may not be available to you due to your wholesale client status.
  3. We may assume a level of knowledge and experience when assessing whether our products are appropriate for you.

Importantly as a Sophisticated Investor we will continue to segregate funds that you deposit with us according to the Corporations Act and ASIC Client Money Rules 2017. Wholesale client funds are not protected by the relevant laws and rules.
