由於政策制定者面臨在抑制通膨和支持經濟成長之間尋求平衡的難題，預計英國央行將維持利率在3.75%不變。英國貨幣政策委員會在聖誕節前將利率從4%下調至3.75%，這是今年的第四次降息。
英國央行行長安德魯貝利當時表示，英國“通膨已度過近期高峰並持續下降”，但他同時警告稱，未來決策將“更加難以預測”。
