Daily Market Update: Mixed Trading Day for US Stock Markets

US stock markets experienced another mixed trading day yesterday as investors braced for big tech firms earning reports. Tech stocks had been well bid during the day and investors were rewarded after the bell with a strong result from Alphabet, which beat quarterly sales estimates.

US treasury yields dipped after hitting fresh 4-month highs and the dollar closed out the day flat, although once again noticeably made gains against the Yen. Oil prices remained under pressure as talk increased of a potential ceasefire in the Middle East, whilst Gold again surged to record another all-time high at $2,774.75.

It is another busy day ahead for markets with top-tier data and central bank action spread across all three trading sessions.
