US markets experienced a relatively calm day yesterday before the anticipated storm later today when we have the latest employment data update. US Indices saw little change but remain trading at, or near all-time record highs. Bonds and currencies remained trading in relatively tight ranges, however we did see some moves in commodities with Oil prices gaining good ground for the second day on the trot and Gold moving higher again.
It really will be all about those key US numbers today as there is little else on the event calendar for the first two sessions of the day. Traders are therefore expecting rangebound conditions for most of the day until we hit that New York open when all bets will be off, especially if we do get a result significantly off the expected 182k rise for the headline NFP number.
